In one of the more exciting and nerve-racking nights of poker we can recently remember, Simon Watt has just put Tom Dwan's final few chips into his own stack to earn himself the gold bracelet for Event #11 and more than $600,000 in cash money.t is an amazing accomplishment to final table one of these large, $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em events at the World Series of Poker, let alone get heads up. Congratulations are in order for Tom Dwan, and so too is his prize money; $381,885.Just as we were typing this, in fact, the rest of the media were shooting the winner's photos and preparing for interviews with Watt. Mike Matusow came wandering into the nearly-empty arena and half-yelled at Watt, "Thank you for saving us all millions of dollars! In referance to the prop bets Dwan has with most of the high stakes players. How does it feel to be every high-stakes gamblers hero? They're gonna, like, put you on the wall in Bobby's Room or some shit."

Dependant on which source you believe dwans prop(side) bets are anything between 3 and 10 million pounds profit all he has to do is win a bracelet lol easy right!!!!

WSOP: Simon Watt Upsets Dwan, Wins Event 11: $1,500 NL Hold’em
Paul Oresteen | June 7, 2010

Simon Watt saved many players' bankrolls by defeating Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

All eyes were Tom “durrrr” Dwan as he made his first bid for a World Series of Poker bracelet this year. The feature table area was full of spectators for the first time since the Players Championship final table, and they saw Simon Watt win the gold bracelet and upset the heavily favored Dwan.

“It was amazing, it was pretty strange having “durrrr” at the final table,” Watt said. “It would have been enough playing for a bracelet, but playing “durrrr” heads-up it can’t get much better than that.”

Save for Jason Young’s cheering section, the crowd was overwhelmingly in Dwan’s favor. Spectators were two or three rows deep along the rails giving the final table a Main Event-esque feel. Dwan entered the table with the chip lead with a focused look, determined to win the many bracelet bets he had placed. Though he hadn’t publicly stated how much he stood to win,  he wrote in his blog, “I made a ton of bets, and winning a bracelet would definitely by my biggest winning day ever at this point- so u can extrapolate from there.”

“I know he had a few bets on it, but no one said a word to me about it,” Watt said when asked about the bets Dwan had on himself.

At that moment Mike Mattusow walked through the final table area and asked, “How does it feel to be every high stakes gambler’s hero?” Mattusow suggested that Watt’s photo should be posted on the wall in Bobby’s Room and say “Simon saved everybody from going broke.”

The final table began with pushed small pots of mostly antes and blinds around for the first hour, but when they returned after dinner break two bustouts came within moments of each other. The first to fall was Eric Ladny when Watt moved all in from the small blind after Ladny came in with a raise. Ladny made the call and was at risk with A Q and Watt tabled two red eights. The board ran 3 7 5 8 6 and Watt’s set sent Ladny to rail as the first elimination from the final table.

Only one hand passed before Austin McCormick started the action with a raise and Kyle Winter moved all in behind him. Then Michael Smith had the 400,000 chip call, followed by McCormick’s all-in raise to isolate Winter. Smith stepped out of the way and McCormick tabled T T and Winter had two overs with A K. The flop was brutal for Winter when it came 8 8 T and he need running kings or aces for the win. The board completed 3 4 and Winter virtually followed Ladny to the cashier’s cage.

Marvin Rettenmaier moved all in preflop for 455,000 and Watt made the call from the big blind. Rettenmaier tabled 7 6 and Watt was ahead with A T, but fell behind when the flop came 7 8 9. Watt needed an ace, jack or six to retake the lead, and the 3 fell on turn. Then river fell J shipping the pot Watt and eliminating Rettenmaier.

More preflop action ensued when Smith moved in holding 9 9 and got called by McCormick’s J J from the button. The board ran Q 3 Q 2 A and Smith was out in sixth place.

The table had picked up speed with all four eliminations coming in the first level after the dinner break. For the most part Dwan was staying out of the way letting the other player knock each other out. He never unnecessarily put his chips at risk and either led the tournament or was within striking distance.

Young raised under the gun and David Randall re-raised all in and Young made the call. Young tabled K Q and looked nervous when Randall revealed Q Q. The board kept Randall in the lead when it ran T 77 3 7 and Young left the feature table area.

McCormick raised preflop from the cutoff and saw Randall re-raise from the button. The rest of the table got out of the way and McCormick committed the rest of his stack. Randall had A T and McCormick was looking to connect with some board cards holding J T. The board came 8 4 K 7 5 and McCormick became the fourth place finisher.

Three handed play saw Dwan, Randall and Watt play for nearly two hours with the trio trading smallish pots, unable to deal a knockout blow. Dwan was lowest in chips but worked his way back to narrow the gap between himself and Watt with Randall hovering near the seven million mark.

After nearly two entire levels without an elimination, Randall moved in from the small blind for just over a million and Watt insta-called. Randall tabled A K and was way ahead of Watt’s A 2. The entire crowd rose to their feet in anticipation, and the flop came 4 3 4. The turn brought the 2 and Dwan’s cheering section could barely contain themselves. The 7 hit on the river shipping the pot to Watt and clearing the way for the highly anticipated heads-up match.

Dwan started heads-up with 3.16 million and Watt had 8.385 million. They jabbed back and forth with Dwan neither gaining much ground nor losing it either. The slow methodical pace seemed uncharacteristic for both players. Then, on a board of J T 2 A with an a huge pot in the middle, Watt moved all-in and Dwan reluctantly folded.

Down to near 1.5 million, Dwan got it all-in on the very next hand. Watt quickly called and tabled 9 9 and Dwan needed some help tabling Q 6. The flop came 8 A A and Dwan was looking for queen. The turn came A and Dwan was still looking for a queen or the case ace for the win. The river hit K and Watt ended the tournament amidst an audible groan of disappointment from the crowd.

As soon as the king peeled off on the river, Dwan immediately left the table. He stopped only to tell Tournament Director, Robbie Thompson, “I’ll pick my stuff up tommorrow.”

Final Table Payouts for Event 11: $1,500 No Limit Hold’em:

Simon Watt - $614,248
Tom Dwan - $381,885
David Randall - $270,299

Jason Young - $142,346
