Adebayor to stay at City
Emmanuel Adebayor says he is staying with Manchester City and looking forward to the new season.

The former Arsenal star moved to Eastlands for a fee close to £25m last summer.

He scored 14 Barclays Premier League goals in his maiden campaign but he has been linked with a possible move as City themselves look to invest heavily once again during this close-season.

STAYING PUT
Strikers such as Fernando Torres, Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli and Mirko Vucinic have been reported targets.

However, Adebayor insists he is staying put and said: "I'm looking forward to next season. It's going to be very difficult. But that's football."

City have this summer released midfielder Martin Petrov, defender Sylvinho and striker Benjani Mwaruwari, while highly-rated teenager Alex Henshall has joined from Swindon Town.

City agree Silva deal
Manchester City have reached agreement with Valencia to sign Spain forward David Silva.

The 24-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup with his national squad, has agreed a five-year deal at Eastlands.

Silva will undergo a medical and the transfer will be formally completed once his involvement in South Africa is over.

Speaking from Spain's World Cup base, Silva told the club's website: "Firstly I would like to thank Valencia as a club and all of their loyal fans, and my team-mates there and staff.

"I have enjoyed six years at Valencia, they discovered me as a footballer and they will always be a special club for me.

"The time is right for me to seek a new challenge, and I am thrilled about playing in England with Manchester City.

"I believe the Premier League is one of the best competitions in the world and I want to bring success to City and win trophies for them.

"There has been a lot of speculation about me in the British and Spanish media, and I need to fully concentrate on playing for Spain in the World Cup.

"That is why my advisors have been dealing with City for me, so that I can have my attentions only on South Africa and playing well for my national team."

BEST MIDFIELDERS
City manager Roberto Mancini was pleased to have agreed terms for a player the club have been monitoring for several months.

He said: "I think that David Silva is one of the best midfielders in Europe, and I hope he will be a very important player for Manchester City.

"I am so pleased he is coming to us, I think he can make a big, big impact for Manchester City. In signing David, we are showing the world that we are bringing the best players here and that we hope to compete to win the Premier League. When players see what is happening at Manchester City and the ambition, they are attracted to what we are building and want to be a part of it."

"I hope he does very well for Spain in the World Cup and then joins us for our pre-season, ready to compete in the Premier League. I am very excited about seeing him playing for Manchester City."

Silva has only started one match at the World Cup, the opening encounter against Switzerland.

City sign Yaya Toure
Manchester City have signed Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure on a five-year deal.

The Ivory Coast international completed the move just days after returning from the FIFA World Cup following the African side's exit from the tournament.

Toure scored the opening goal in the Elephants' final group match, a 3-0 win over North Korea. It was not enough to see them qualify from the so-called Group of Death and after returning home, he completed a medical with City physios in Spain before finalising the switch from the Spanish champions.

He now joins his elder brother Kolo Toure at Eastlands after spending three years at the Nou Camp where he won two Spanish titles and the Champions League in 2009
So far this summer, City have already signed Jerome Boateng from Hamburg and David Silva from Valenica and this deal for an undisclosed fee takes their close season spending to around £60m.

TOP LEVEL
Manager Roberto Mancini told the official club website: "This is another fantastic signing for Manchester City, and I am very pleased Yaya has joined us, he is a very good player.

"Everyone knows Yaya is a player that we have admired for a long time, and we would like to welcome him to Manchester City. He has played at the top level with Barcelona and I am sure he his experience and ability will be very important for us."

Toure is expected to join up with his team-mates for their pre-season tour to the United States later this month after enjoying a late break following the World Cup.

The 28-year-old is one of the world's most coveted midfield players. Signed in the summer of 2007, Toure has since enjoyed a decorated three-year spell at the Nou Camp. He picked up a Champions League winner's medal in 2009, when he played in the 1-0 final victory over Manchester United. He was also a regular in Barca's 2008/09 and 2009/10 La Liga title winning sides.

Taylor signs new deal
Stuart Taylor has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Manchester City for a further two seasons.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper only made one senior appearance for City last season - an FA Cup fourth round tie against Spassagehorpe United.

Taylor started his career at Arsenal, where he made just 18 appearances, and also had loan spells at Bristol Rovers, Crystal Palace, Peterborough United and Leicester City before he was snapped up by Aston Villa in 2005.

STEPPING IN
Once again, Taylor was playing understudy during his time at Villa Park and he had a season at Cardiff City before the Eastlands club came calling for the former England Under-21 international last summer.

Taylor has put pen to paper on his new deal following the expiry of his initial 12-month contract and has fully recovered from the knee injury that prevented him from stepping in when Shay Given dislocated a shoulder late last season.

City bring in Lombardo
Former Italy international Attilio Lombardo has joined Manchester City's coaching staff.

The ex-Crystal Palace player was a team-mate of City manager Roberto Mancini during their days together at Sampdoria.

The 44-year-old, who worked with Sampdoria's youth set up and then had a spell in charge of Swiss side FC Chiasso since retiring as a player, is the second addition to Mancini's backroom staff this summer following the arrival of David Platt.

  WINNING MENTALITY
He has already begun work with the team on tour in the United States.

"It is great that Attilio has come to join us," said Mancini.

"He was a top-class player and he will bring lots of experience and a winning mentality to the group. I know he is excited at being at Manchester City and I know that he loves the English game from his time in London."

Lombardo played in Palace's Premier League campaign of 1997/98 and made 47 appearances, scoring 10 goals overall, before leaving for Lazio in 1999.
